Fashion Tips for the Holidays

So the holidays are here. That probably means that you will have to attend a couple of social gatherings, implying that you will also have to start taking into consideration what to wear on each of the upcoming occasions. Because let's face it, you want to look your best now that you are out of the working routine. So here's some short tips that can help you diversify your appearance and help you to actually look flawless.

The Basics:
  • Keep in mind where the venue is going to be held. An indoor gathering is different from an outer one, specially if the weather outside is cold. In and indoor venue, it doesn't matter if you're wearing a suit with a coat or a sweater with a blazer since you can always take off what you don't need and just be comfortable with few things. In the soiree taking place outside, you not only need to think what coats and sweaters to wear, but also if you're gonna need a scarf or some gloves.
  • Always think on how to match your clothing correctly. Which color of shirt goes with what set of pants or jeans, and always remember to wear the appropriate socks (leave the white ones in your house and try some color on your feet).
  • Don't ever combine something classy with a relaxed outfit. If you're going for the suit, use some nice leather shoes. The option of wearing a tie is really up to you and how comfortable you'll feel or how classy the venue will be. If your opting for a relaxed look, then where a nice t-shirt with a v neck sweater, or some clean jeans, a button-down shirt and a blue or gray blazer.
  • When it comes to accessories, less is more. Don't wear too much necklaces, rings or hippie bracelets. A nice watch, a neat wallet and fine belt can take you anywhere.
  • Take the time to groom yourself. Spend a few minutes in front of the mirror so you can decide details like if you trim your beard or opt for a nice smooth naked skin. Consider trimming all areas with unwanted hair (nose and ears).
Now remember, these tips are just some guidelines you may follow, but to really be fashionable, you need to have your own signature and personality on every thing you wear. If you're known for wearing t-shirts with cool phrases, or if you're known for being the guy who always wears something new and trendy to parties, then be that guy. The dictionary gives the definition of fashion as that of a prevailing style. So basically, make your own attire with the statement "this is who I am". Try new things, new colors and textures, mix up different combinations, and always have the confidence to wear them.
